a meteorite is the stone itself. This is a photo of an aircraft (500 mph) condensation trail, the color and light from it are of the setting sun. Meteors travel 30,000 + mph. Look at some youtube videos - like the jackson hole, peekskill new york, or west texas meteor videos.
