Details:
October 28th, 2014. Patchy cloud comes and goes throughout the night. But by morning, it has cleared away.
This is my view of the Total Lunar Eclipse, looking south from Lake Carlos State Park, Alexandria Minnesota.
The composite is a multi-frame panorama captured at around 5:30am CST this morning in a wonderfully clear Midwest autumn sky.
In the darkness of totality, the moon is a deep rust colour. The Milky Way shines through, as do constellations like Orion, Sirius, Gemini, and others.
Rising in the east, Jupiter challenges for brightest object in the sky, but noticeably, Jupiter rises within a wedge of Zodiacal Light, all visible during totality.
Uranus was easily visible beside the eclipsed moon in close up shots like the one attached, and even in binoculars.
A morning to remember.
