Details:
On my last day of travelling from Stockholm to Östersund in the north of Sweden we got an unexpected treat. Around midnight a northern light ignited at the same time as fog rolled in making for a very beautiful mix.
At times the green and purple aurora almost dissapeared when the fog became too dense.
The Moon (to the right) and the streetlamps helped light up the landscape.
Despite the bright lights, the Milky Way is still slightly visible to the left.
This panorama is a stitch of 4 circular fisheye pictures showing almost 360° around.
The second picture was taken the previous night in the mountains centered on the Milky Way. On the horison to the left there is a faint airglow and to the right is the afterglow of the setting Sun.
The 3rd picture is a little planet projection of the same fisheye view. As I have used a single picture, it appropriately leaves a round black hole in the center of our galaxy ;-)
All the pictures are taken with a Canon Eos5DMkII and a 8-15/4 fisheye lens. 30 sec at 6,400 Iso.
