Details:
Crowds of photographers gathered at Trillium Lake with a view of Mt. Hood on 9/12/14 in hope of seeing an aurora. While we saw some early coloring in the sky, the moon rose a little after 9:30 pm and soon washed any hint of an aurora away. This sent many of the aurora hopefuls home. I decided to make a photo of the remaining photographers before heading back home, myself. I pointed my camera in the general direction of the people on the lake shore and tripped a 15 second exposure to test the composition. At about 6 seconds into the shot a bright yellow meteor streaked across the sky to the delight of a few and to the consternation of all those that hadn't captured it. I was delighted to find that I had, indeed, captured the brightest meteor I think I've ever seen!
