Details:
At 11 AM CDT on August 22nd, Pensacola State College Astronomy student Robert Dean used his iPhone 5 and a Coronado 60 with 17mm eyepiece to image a solar flame, whose CME arrived here today, August 27, creating the fine aurorae seen this morning. He also captured some nice filaments and prominences. The flare lasted only a few minutes, and appeared to be associated with AR 2146; to the eye, it appeared as a bright star on the red solar chromosphere.
