Details:
I was invited to run my Action Sun workshop for SPEAK Ireland and Space Camp Ireland 2014 at Birr Technology Center Co Offaly. Action Sun brings the Sun to Earth so we can look at its features safely and learn about them. The children created the sun from data provide by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory page " The Sun Now" Our data was taken at 07:09:20 UT. We used paper, paint, glue and energy to create our 5 foot sun on a 10ftX7ft backdrop. It was too cloudy to take the information directly via my PST 40. However Midlands Astronomy Club had shared the sun in real time with the children a little earlier that morning, which was fantastic.!
