Details:
Purple auroral glow over Dunluce Castle on the Co. Antrim coast on August 19th/20th 2014 captured at 18mm on a cold night which felt more like November with a Nly wind shaking the camera and making photography a challenge. I caught this image early in the night when a gap opened in the clouds revealing the blue/purple upper section of the aurora while the green band was hidden by cloud along the horizon, the glow was visible as a colourless enhancement to the sky with the naked eye some 20 degrees high however the camera revealed what the high couldn't see, glad I got this before the clouds closed in for the rest of the night. First aurora of the new season and I hope there will be many more to come. Canon 600D 18mm lens F/3.5
