Details:
Scutum has a fascinating history. The Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius named it Scutum Sobiescianum, meaning the shield of Sobieski, in 1683. He named it for Jan III Sobieski, a Polish king who led his armies to victory in the Battle of Vienna (1683). The constellation is full of dark nebulas and resembles the king’s coat of arms on his shield. Canon EOS 6D, EF24-105 f/4 IS USM set at 105mm, f/4.0 ISO 1250
