Noctilucent Clouds
Taken by Herbert Raab on July 3, 2014 @
A nice display of noctilucent clouds on July 3, 2014, over Austria (48° N). This image was taken at 22:59 CEST, 113 minutes after sunset. At an altitude of ~80 kilometers, noctilucent clouds are the highest clouds in Earth's atmosphere. Therefore, they are still illuminated by sunlight even when the ground and the lower atmosphere is already dark.
8 second exposure taken with a Canon EOS 550D at ISO 1600, 35mm, f/4.0.
