Details:
Colourful display of NLC this evening, with bright expanse from NW-N horizon to about 8° altitude (constrained just below Capella, the bight star visible in 2 of the 3 shots. 3 photos, a wide field view of display and two close-ups of the western and eastern portions, exhibiting some of the fine structure of the clouds. No motion was detectable to the naked eye, but successive photos taken ~10-15 seconds apart showed entire structure was drifting westward. Photos taken after midnight local time; display had no doubt already receded somewhat before I went out.
