This brief display of iridescence only last for a couple of minutes. Fortunately, the trees were blocking the sun which made the display all the more noticeable at the time. Image details: Pentax K5, Sigma 70-300mm EX DG APO lens at 110mm; f9.0, 1/6400 sec, ISO 200.

I would love to know what time you saw this phenomenon. I saw electric blue/green Noctilucent Cloud streaks in front of the waning Harvest Moon for just a few brief minutes on the same date as you between 8:30 and 9pm EDT. Latitude 41.2794° N, Longitude 73.0253° W It had the same formation. I am at the sea shore. Are you aware of Noclilucent clouds(NLCs)? They are not usually seen under 50 degrees latitude-which is exactly where you are at. I asked an astrophysicist and she said that it is possible to see them at my latitude. Though they are rare, they are increasing due to climate change/methane in our atmosphere AND being seen in lower and lower latitudes. Please let me know the time of your sighting and any other info you care to share, Thanks! Beautiful Pic!
