Details:
What an astounding morning! I put up my small portable solar telescope at about 10am (UTC). I quickly noted some bright developments in Active Group 4366. I quickly hauled out my second scope equipped with a Quark Solar Filter and camera. While fine-tuning I got the message for an M6.6 flare. So I started to follow the development of the flare. To my big surprise it just went on and on! The sunspot group was boiling with small bright eruptions. After some two hours it just went crazy and at 12.33 UTC there was an X1.0 Flare. And it just went on. I'm showing 3 simple images taken at 10.34, 12.30 and 13.50 UTC in a quickly made GIF animation. I will try later to put together a more detailed sequence with some 50+ images time permitting. I hope many of you managed to see this big Flare today. WO 90mm refractor, Quark C filter, ASI183M, Baader ERF.
