Details:
While the northern hemisphere is eagerly watching comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), the other, recently discovered visitor, C/2025 R2 (SWAN) is still a beauty weeks after its perihelion. I used a remote telescope in Namibia via Skygems Network to capture it on 26th sept. before moonlight got too strong, stitching two panels to fit the first 2 deg. of the tail into the image (18" Telescopi Italiani TI450 scope, 2x120s. Lum, 1x120s. R, G and B each for both panels). Even though nearby Moon shining into the telescope made image processing difficult, a nicely structured gas tail was revealed with shorter, faint threads and a bright main band. Galaxy IC 991 can also be seen at the bottom of the image, to the left of the comet.
