Details:
My 3rd attempt at Comet C/2025 R2 (SWAN) from Tarpon Springs Florida over the Gulf - finally, a tail is visible from North America! About half a degree of green tail was captured, about the width of the Full Moon. The comet had just dropped below a low cloud bank when I started getting clear images, so the stacked image has a lot of noise and haze but the comet was in a relatively clear patch for the duration of this image. The frame is about 3 degrees wide, Mars is to the right. Canon R8, Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 C, 600mm, f6.3, 33x10s = 5.5 minutes total exposure, ISO 1000, 8:28-8:34 PM EDT 9/22/2025. Stacked and processed with DeepSkyStacker 5.1.3 and DxO Photolab 8.8 using 10 darks, 10 bias, 10 flats, and 10 dark-flats
