Details:
Conjunction of crescent Moon (5% illuminated), Jupiter and comet 12P/Pons-Brooks. Incoming cirrus made the session challenging but I managed to get cca. 10 minutes of total exposure with a 200mm f2.8 lens and I was even lucky to have a thicker cloud band in front of the Moon to filter its light while the comet appeared in a relatively clear gap. Image processing was a bit tricky as I had to separately stack for the comet and also the Moon (to keep them from trailing) and combine it with the fixed-star base image. I also had to make a standard astro-processed version (background extraction, heavy stretching etc.) to bring out the comet better and then combine it with a more natural, simple averaged version to smooth out strong gradients and cloud trails. Despite all the difficulties, I'm happy for the opportunity I had to capture such a special conjunction!
