Details:
I took my modified 10" dobsonian on a 12 hour round trip to Arkansas from Kansas for 4 minutes of awesome. I modified it years ago by shortening it to use my Pentax cameras screwed directly onto the eye piece mount at prime focus for some solar photographing. Today I used it for my first try at capturing a solar prominence and I caught a handful, I think I also caught a snapped filament about 9:30 om the clock?? I also sent my drone up to run a 4k video of the transition through the totality. I missed out on 2017 because of the cloud forecast which turned out wrong, I ignored this one and scored a hit. Its magical, I have captured many solar and lunar eclipses, there is no comparison. The transition is so fast it is mind boggling. It will be a long time until the next, I might not be here. It was a long trip, the traffic was backed up for hours leaving the area, the worst I have ever seen..... I would not trade it for anything. This is a bucket list item, you just may not know it until you finally see it.
