I found your article w.r.t. orange seen in aurora of great interest and although I have been fortunate to image many aurorae over the decades, I have never witnessed nor imaged any as colorful as that of the Halloween solar storms of 2003. The attached is a composite of images I took from the observatory I built at my home here in upstate, NY (on a night I happened to be having a star party here - a couple of my friends can be seen in silhouette in the image second from upper left). From the bright orange swash at upper right rising above the ridge east of my home and the various orange rays in several of the other shots, to the lavenders looking west, and the deep reds looking due south, it was an experience I will never forget !
