Details:
It was cloudy all morning here in cottage country south of Gimli Manitoba Canada so I was not too optimistic. The max eclipse was 1142 am. I started watching to see if the clouds were going to clear and as we got closer to the max I noticed a slight brightening in the clouds. Then at 12:17 a semi clear spot appeared. I could see the disc of the sun very filtered by the clouds. So I took this photo( no filter) at 12:17 with my Nikon Coolpix P1000 @1/1600 sec, F5.6 and ISO 100. It really was hit and miss as I watched the moving lighter clouds heading towards the position of the hidden sun. But I lucked out and saw this partial eclipse three times. As a bonus I was able to call my wife out into the front lawn so she caught this amazing experience as well.
