Details:
With Hurricane Idalia on its way to Chiefland Astro Village, I figured I had better chase Comet Nishimura (C/2023 P1) before it dives toward the Sun and into the southern sky. This morning, the pre-dawn sky was crowded with clouds and the comet was so low that it was buried in the branches of our oak tree and partially behind the observatory roof gable. Somehow, there was a hole in the cloud deck big enough to allow me to capture 8 minutes of LRGB 3X3 exposure using the 0.37M RCOS telescope and SBIG 11K camera after twilight crept in! My prayers were answered. Hope the observatory survives the next challenge.
