Details:
After a series of thunderstorms I looked outside just after midnight. Although it was a dark night without moon the sky behind the mountains seemed unususal bright. I snapped my camera - only the small Panasonic DC-TZ202 I took with me for a hiking holiday - and a gorilla tripod and went outside. And indeed the sky was green with airglow. After some time fog began to spread and obscured the view.
