There has been many fabulous atmospheric optics displays across N. Ireland these last few days, some of the finest in a decade or longer. This evening I got a message from a friend tipping me off to a spectacular sunpillar in the sunset sky. I didn't have time to drive out to get images so I put my drone in the air instead, when I did I was very impressed. Even in the wide angle FOV the pillar was huge and striking, then as the sun lowered a 'cross' shape formed within the pillar which I have never seen before in over 25 years of sky watching. I have cropped these in somewhat to show the form better. What a great show, perhaps more to come as this current weather pattern is expected to continue. Mavic 3 Classic 20mph wide angle.
