Details:
The sky looked clear during mid-twilight but the presence of the corona said otherwise. The solid-colored pale blue aureole immediately surrounding the Moon was quite conspicuous to the eye, but on this evening the rainbow colors and outer ring were subtle enough that I had to go fetch the camera and get a photo to be sure they were there. Likely not a good night for viewing nebulous deep-sky objects in a telescope (poor transparency) but an excellent night for resolving close double stars (good seeing).
