Details:
I had heard that aurora dunes were seen with the strong geomagnetic storm we had on March 23, 2023. I thought I might have captured a picture or two of them, but I became super excited when the dunes revealed themselves after processing this panorama! They can clearly be seen rippling horizontally across the top of the auroral arc. This series of photos were taken shortly after "night time", 9:09 p.m. Central Time. The Moon, Venus, and brightly colored pillars grace the western edge of the pano, while the dunes envelope and flow over the northeastern/eastern horizon. Shot with a Canon EOS R and Sigma Art 20mm. Image consists of 10 individual images stitched in Lightroom. F2.0, 2 seconds, 3200 iso.
