I'm glad to publish this mosaic of the most coloured stars of the Cepheus constellation.
Every star is taken by tapping a dobson telescope of 18" and with a smartphone. As the Italian poet Filippo Zamboni said,in this way the stars seem to dance and their colours become wonderfully more evident.
I have decided to use this visual technique in photography to take the most colourful stars of the sky visible at the telescope from italian latitudes: single, doubles and multiple stars, more of 400 objects, that I selected visually ten years ago for their deep nuances with my dobson 12".
This is the first artistic mosaic that I have built of these faint stars. I have decided to call these colourful lines "Ghirigori", an italian poetic word to say scribbles/doodles because I think it's the first thing they remember and because they are taken as in a joke :)
I have decided to publish it in this month because its colours and its shapes remember a Carnival, the festive season of the period.
They are all single shots and based on the shape they show, it can be deduced whether the stars in the frame were alone, in pairs or multiples. Taking them is really simple, even if sometimes the double stars are so narrow, or of such different magnitudes from each other, that shaking them you have to make sure that their colours don't overlap.
Through a photographic instrument star colours usually appear more intense than visual observation; however, I'll only take the stars that can be experienced with one's own eyes already through a medium-sized telescope and sometimes even with a simple binoculars.
