Details:
The Northern Lights were visible from the lower end of the Bitterroot valley in western Montana last night around 11:30pm. Visually, there was just a green glow on the northern horizon with just a faint hint of light pillars. However, the camera really picked up the various colors associated with the Aurora. Images were captured using a SONY Alpha 6000 DSLR equipped with a Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 Fish-Eye lens. Exposures were around 10 to 12 seconds at an ISO of 1600. Visible in the images is the Big Dipper standing proud on its handle to the upper right with the Bitterroot Mountains and the lights of the City of Hamilton to the left.
