Object/Date: C/2022 E3 (ZTF) @ 2023 January 23, 04:43 UT Description: Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) imaged on January 23, 2023 with a brightness at magnitude 5.6, just when it was in conjunction with the spiral galaxy NGC 5906 that we see edge-on, we also see the comet's antitail edge-on because this day the Earth was crossing the orbital plane of the comet, reflecting sunlight for its heavy grains of dust with a reddish hue. The ionic tail and the "normal" dust tail are superimposed to the left.
