Details:
Comet ZTF was observed under near perfect skies and was moving 14 percent faster than 24 hours earlier. Although Comet ZTF was noticeably brighter, it presented a great challenge to capture it. The left image was taken with a Nikon d7100, Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 @ f/3.2, 4x240sec, iso 1600, fixed comet; the next image in the panel is an invert of the left. The 3rd image is Comet ZTF without stars using 33x240sec (note the distinct break in the ion tail). The right image is a 1x240sec (showing slight EQ Drive Mount drift). All images post-processed with PixInsight. Bortle 4, sky transparency 10/10, temperature 30F, RH 90%, slight breeze. Orion Sirius EQ Mount used. No one has addressed what appears as an "anti-tail". Comet ZTF crosses the earth's orbital plain on 23 Jan.
