Details:
Despite a rather meh aurora forecast, the skies started to light up in south Iceland just before 10 pm. I grabbed my trusty Canon full-frame camera and captured this image near Mount Ingólfsfjall. The structure in the aurora was particularly striking, and the violet and red were some of the strongest I've ever seen! We're at the time of year when it seems almost any clear night can host a spectacular show. Last night was a perfect example!
