Description:
Comet C/2017 K2 (PANSTARRS) imaged on August 28, 2022, in a large field 2.6 degrees wide located between the arms of the constellation Scorpius, with the blue glow of the star Acrab (Beta Scorpii) appearing in the upper left corner and against the background of clouds of ionized hydrogen associated with the Sh 2-7 nebula. The comet shows a deep green coma caused by diatomic carbon emission and a dust tail that extends one degree in length.
