Details:
Not had much luck with noctilucent clouds this summer, mainly due to stubborn lower clouds, but that changed last night, with a display that started low on the northern horizon, and ended up covering most of the sky in the emerging twilight. I first viewed the clouds low down in the late evening twilight, and decided to go out again on my night shift break, partly to see if I could catch some Persieds, but also to see how extensive the clouds would become in the morning twilight. I wasn't disappointed, with some beautiful red fringing as the display grew in the morning twilight. In over 35 year watching these majestic clouds, I don't think I've seen anything quite so spectacular this late in the season. Also the first time I've caught Jupiter together with noctilucent clouds. Taken at 0226, 0301, 0311 and 0330 UTC
