Details:
Today, August 4th, 2022, I was able to capture one of the largest prominences I have ever observed. The gigantic manifestation of solar activity measured over 200,000 km, about 18 times the diameter of our planet.
I used a dedicated solar telescope on the Halfa emission line using a conventional reflex camera. I set up the telescope in my backyard which offered a wide field of view of the Sun.
I took a sequence of about 100 photos to get a final image where I combined details of the solar chromosphere, chromospheric layer visible at the edge of the disk and visible protuberances.
For this I have used exclusively Photoshop, a standard software in image production and a procedure that I have experimented to get large scale details on the surface at the same time as fine details on the prominences.
The present solar cycle is still in its beginning but is already showing signs of great activity.
