Last night from 4th to 5th of July, 2022 we had a bright display of NLC here in Hamburg, Germany. It started at midnight in the north, but was interrupted for about two hours by some nasty tropospheric clouds which fortunately moved away just in time. The NLC then got really large and bright. They even came higher than Polaris (54°), so the clouds must have been pretty close. I made a time-lapse movie with a Nikon D90 and a 10.5mm Nikon fisheye lens. This is now on vimeo: https://vimeo.com/726988630/1efb4fa3be Most interesting was observing the waves inside the NLC, and watching with a 10*50 binocular. It looked like some snowy mountains from above. Here are some shots from the movie - plus me sitting at the camera observing the show. The red light on the horizon to the right is the Hamburg planetarium.
