Details:
A beautiful company in the evening sky Mercury gives its farewell performance across the western sky. Its visibility ends on May 9th. On the last evenings one could watch very nicely how the nimble planet passed just 1 degree southeast of the open star cluster of the Pleiades. On the day of this recording, the evening of May 2, 2022, the 1.8-day-old Crescent Moon joined them. It traveled another 2.5 degrees southeast of Mercury. In this image you can see the beautiful celestial constellation over a landscape of old pear trees in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Despite the slight clouds on the western horizon, the encounter could also be followed with the naked eye. A little later, however, the evening company sank into the haze of the horizon.
