This is composite photo of Venus from 4 Jan. and the Moon from the 3 Jan., taken from my driveway in Rockledge with the same camera and basically the same settings (yielding 15X). Each was about 1% illuminated (but per square foot, Venus is much brighter of course). The Moon was approx. 30 hours old. In the sky visually, Venus was about one arc minute across that night (62"), about as large as it gets, while the Moon averages 30 arc minutes or half a degree across.
