Details:
These four photographs of Southern Lights were taken on the night of 4 November 2021, the first three with an astro-modified camera and only the fourth with a non-modified camera. I have been photographing the Southern Lights since the days of film cameras and I have found that the astro-modified camera produces images in all five primary colours of the aurora as well as the film camera. Unfortunately, non-modified cameras have different transmittance in all five primary colours. In particular, the red aurora is only 40 per cent transparent. In the fourth photo only the purple aurora, which has the highest transmission at 94%, stands out.
