Details:
My southernmost Aurora sighting yet! Red glow and occasional pillars viewed on the outskirts of Lincoln, California (town just north of Sacramento), at 39 degrees north. The clouds were moving in fast with the approaching cold front, and I had a small window of time when the Aurora was strong enough but the overcast hasn't come yet. This was taken while the KP was still around 6, and the HP was 128GW. I can only imagine what it would look like if clear skies continued with the 200GW, 8KP numbers we got later. That said, the approaching front may have prevented fog from forming in the Central Valley. Very pleasantly surprised with this unexpectedly strong geomagnetic storm.
