Details:
Extremely bright overhead auroras in interior Alaska during a Kp1-2 (local K-index observed was 5) during a substorm last night, August 31. The first photo shows fenceposts developing along a brightened band over the southern sky shot at 20mm 2.8. The second photo shows a spiraling overhead display shot at 14mm 2.8. The third photo may show an example of black aurora near the horizon but it's hard for me to tell, also shot at 14mm 2.8.
