Details:
Despite some smoke haze due to dry season burning, the 1% illuminated very thin Young Moon (only 27 hours old) was photographed in fading sunset twilight from after first becoming visible at 5.56 pm until it set behind a hill adjacent to Christmas Pass at 6.10 pm. The lead x20 speed time-lapse animation, prepared from 36 x 1 second manual exposures captured using auto white balance (to reduce the red component of the fading sunset glow), shows the whisker thin crescent setting towards some indigenous trees on the horizon. In one photograph taken at 6.04 pm the bright star Regulus is also visible to the left of the Moon. Cameras: 2 x Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in night scenery and manual modes.
