This scene puzzled me, so I thought I'd ask Dr. Phillips for an explanation: while hiking near Iceland's active Fagradalsfjall volcano, I observed the sunset behind the crater. I expected to see some ripples because of the rising plume of hot gasses, but the Sun seemed almost squashed - much more distorted than I'd ever seen! I'd love to know the explanation.
