Details:
n Thursday evening a time-lapse sequence of 161 still images was captured of the two day old Waxing Crescent Moon setting down the flank of Transmitter Hill. The accompanying animations clearly show that a small occulted star in the Taurus constellation emerged from behind the setting crescent and then slowly separated from it due to the slow retrograde motion of the Moon relative to the surrounding sky. Nice! Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS40 in manual exposure mode (each picture f/6.1, 1 sec, ISO 400). PS: The Moon set in almost the same place (near the strange weather beaten ‘Solstice Tree’) as Mercury did six days ago on 05th May! (see previous post upload id_174260).
