Details:
At lunch-time on Sunday, a thunderstorm built up to the south of Mutare then moved slowly north while generating at least three cloud-to-ground lightning strikes on Chikanga Township. As the storm approached Murahwa Mountain it collided with warm moist air moving in the opposite direction to form a dark, sinister, rotating cloud which then collapsed to produce a spectacular cloudburst over Chikanga West. Accompanied by strong winds and torrential rain the storm then gradually subsided before heading east. The relative humidity has increased and more than 80 mm of rain has fallen in the past five days so the rainy season has arrived! Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset mode.
