I’ve been imaging Mars on a continual basis from July 2020 to just prior to opposition on October 13, 2020. Ever since Mars reached opposition I’ve had to deal with continuous clouds and rain. The seasonal bad weather came a little early this year. It has now been over two weeks since I’ve been able to image Mars. In an effort to stave off the possibility of “Mars withdrawal symptoms”, I decided to put together a few composite image presentations of Mars. This third image presentation begins in July and continues thru opposition in October. The individual images were selected to represent a minimum of one complete rotation of Mars. The designation “CM” followed by a number in degrees written under each image stands for Central Meridian and is the same as “degrees longitude” on earth.
I used a Celestron 14” Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and a ZWO ASI290MC imaging camera for all the images. South is up as per the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers’ (A.L.P.O.) standard.
