The red planet has reached the minimum distance from Earth, about 62,000 km. and it will be closer to us these days than at any other time for the next 15 years In this image you can see in addition to the north polar cap which has now become very small also the Cimmerium sea, Elysium Planitia which is the second largest volcanic Martian complex behind Tharsis and the mists along the south polar cap and along the edges of the disk, the details they are as usual on the picture.
