Details:
Mars is getting really big now, close to its maximum size for this opposition. At the moment it is around 20 arcsec, which allows for moderate to large scopes to detect some craters in the 150 km size. The Eye of Mars, Solis Lacus, stands well in this view. The polar cap is fragmented. This is an near infrared view combined with RGB data. Note the clouds in the north polar area.
