Details:
From 20-22nd August, Eastern Zimbabwe experienced classic late-winter Guti weather with sharp drops in temperature, dense stratocumulus overcast and periods of drizzle. This condition is associated with easterly winds that invade the interior bringing in cool maritime air. On Friday 21st there was an unexpected clearance of this cloud just before sunset which provided spectacular views of the Sun setting on the northern slope of Christmas Pass as shown in the accompanying x45 speed video time-lapse animation and mosaics. As soon as the Sun disappeared the cloud returned to be followed by a few millimeters of late evening and overnight rain. Cameras: Tripod-mounted and hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60’s in sunset mode.
