During the August 18th, 2020 evening I was watching the data and was looking promising. With the hemispheric power up to 30GW and the IMF stuck around -5nT I decided to go for a drive having in mind that, this behavior cannot be an early CME that we were expecting around the 19-20th August period. Checked the weather map and started driving. As usually nothing goes as planned, I ended up driving further more than I wanted, along a huge lighting storm system and eventually I was able to pass the storm and catch up with Lady Aurora after 180Km driving along. I was able to witness some colorful pillars and some green for about 30 minutes. After that, the hell broke loose, the lighting storm took over the sky and also the data died…The Northern Lights, the lighting storm combined with the clouds and some light pollution created an incredible and surreal night.
