Details:
In 1953 the amateur astronomer John O'Neill thought he saw in the Mare Crisium, a colossal bridge that connected the Lavinium promontory to the Olivium promontory. The discovery was also confirmed by professional astronomers but it was only a matter of fantasy due to an incorrect interpretation of the shadows cast by the surrounding craters.
