My first display of noctilucent clouds for the season appeared June 4 over Alberta. It seems northern Europe always sees NLCs first every year and as a rule I don't see displays from western Canada until well into June or July. This was the earliest I can recall seeing NLCs from home in Alberta. The clouds were there as it got dark at 11:30 pm and persisted for another hour to 90 minutes before the illumination from the Sun dropped and rendered them invisible low in the north. The set includes a 24mm wide-angle lens shot to show the clouds in context to show their angular extent (note Cassiopeia at upper right) and a panorama that stitches several segments taken with a 135mm telephoto lens.
