The solar wind has arrived! After a week with some good but weak and low auroras, the faster and denser solar wind from the large transequatorial coronal hole reached us and sparked some bright and colourful auroras here in Lapland!
The weather was not really cooperating at first, and the chasing did not really go as expected at first, bringing me some 150km (93mi) from home. As this was hopeless, I decided to turn around and go back home. It's 4km (2.5mi) from home that suddenly the sky opened and turned completely green with many purple fringes appearing in the course of the following half hour!
All the frustration of all the "driving for nothing" went away, and made room for an intense enjoyment of the show that was unfolding before my eyes (and behind them as well, way, way south!).
What a crazy night again in the very north of Finnish Lapland!
