Details:
NLCs contributed a strange luminescence to dawn over the River Thames at Brentford this morning between 02:00 and 03:00 UT. As sunrise approached, long vertical wisps appeared of a sort I do not recall seeing before. They are most noticeable in the fourth and final shot taken at 02:34 (the red light in the sky at upper right of this one is a police helicopter.) These streaks persisted and got higher until washed out by twilight shortly after 03:00 UT. Exposures are: 1. 1/4 sec, f/1.8. 2. 1/6 sec, f/1.8. 3. 1/8 sec, f/1.8. 4. 1/8 sec, f/1.8. All taken at ISO 1600 with a Sony RX-100 II.

BTW, ignore the June 7 date given at the top of the page – these were taken on July 6. Its confusion between US and British date conventions. Actually, _all_ dates on this site should be given in International Standard ISO 8601 date and time convention, i.e. yyyy/mm/dd.
